Beginning in January 2022, most businesses across Costa Rica will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination for all persons age 12 . Those who are not vaccinated will not be allowed to enter the establishments.

Currently, Costa Rica's airports and land borders are open with no COVID-19 negative test requirement and regardless of immunization status. Minors and vaccinated tourists may enter Costa Rica without health insurance but unvaccinated or partially vaccinated adults must purchase health insurance covering the duration of their stay in Costa Rica.
